I found this recipe about 15 years ago on the back of a box of porridge oats, and I’ve never changed it. Simple and delicious, these flapjacks are always extremely popular.

White chocolate flapjack.

  • 150g butter
  • 150g brown sugar
  • 6 tbsp golden syrup
  • 300g porridge oats

  • Heat your oven to 180 degrees
  • Line an 8 x 8 inch tin
  • In a saucepan, gently melt the butter, sugar and syrup and stir occasionally until combined
  • Add in your oats and mix together making sure to give it a good mix and get all the oats covered
  • Press into your prepared tin
  • Bake for 15 minutes (if they are not ready, stick them back in the oven and keep checking every five minutes)
  • The top of the flapjacks should be golden but still feel soft as they will harden on cooling
  • Allow to cool and decorate with melted chocolate, dried fruit or just leave them plain
